Olivier Garnier

I trained as an art historian at the École du Louvre and worked for eleven years as a freelance lecturer for museum education departments, mainly at the Musée d'Orsay. I have given the same talk on Manet's Olympia perhaps six hundred times and I still change it every time, because people see different things. Now I take small private and semi-private groups through Orsay and the Louvre, and in spring and summer out to Giverny. I do not try to show you everything. In two hours you will see twelve or fifteen works properly, and you will leave knowing how to look at the rest on your own. I prefer groups of eight or fewer so we can stand close to the canvas without blocking other visitors. I speak French, English and Italian, which I learned during a year of research in Florence. Entry times at both museums are strict. From Paris, I now guide on live video with my phone, and the chat stays open for your questions the whole time.
