Oskar Bergman

I trained as a historian focused on Gothenburg's founding under Swedish and Dutch influence in the seventeenth century. My main session walks Gothenburg Cathedral, rebuilt after fire in the early nineteenth century on the site of two earlier churches. A second session stops at Kronhuset, the oldest secular building in the city, a brick armoury built under Dutch-trained architects. I like moving between a religious building and a military one from roughly the same founding period, since together they explain how deliberately planned this city was compared with most of Sweden's older towns.
