I grew up watching the clockwork figures circle the emperor on the Frauenkirche's facade every day at noon, and I still time my sessions around that small ceremony. On camera I hold on the gilded Schöner Brunnen nearby and explain the old rhyme about spinning its lucky ring, which almost every local child learns young. My second session moves inside St. Lorenz to its carved tabernacle, a stone spire rising nearly to the ceiling. I keep a warm, unhurried pace and enjoy pointing out details visitors usually walk straight past.
