Pieter Claes

I worked for nineteen years as a press officer in the European Parliament, and when I left I realised that what I missed most was explaining Brussels to visiting journalists. So now I do it for everyone. I grew up in Mechelen, went to university in Leuven and have lived near the canal in Brussels since 1999, which makes me a Fleming who speaks French at the baker and Dutch at home, a normal Brussels situation. I speak four languages and I enjoy switching between them in the same group. My interests are political history, military history and the comic strips that cover half the walls of the city centre. I plan my tours carefully and start on time. I am also a patient person, which helps when explaining how Belgium is governed. I will do my best, but no promises. Everything I do is now live on video: I walk Brussels with my phone, and you can ask me anything as we go.
