I have lived in this city my whole life and watched one seaside structure fall into the sea while another one nearby stayed standing, which taught me early that nothing here is quite as permanent as it looks. On camera I let silence sit in front of an old ruin rather than filling it with facts I am not certain of. I plan evening calls around whichever hour gives the best silhouette against the sky. Viewers often ask what actually happened, and I try to answer honestly rather than with the more dramatic version people sometimes prefer.
