I have guided around San Lorenzo for over a decade, and I usually start at the basilica's plain, unfinished facade, explaining why it was left bare while the interior received Michelangelo's design work. I then move into the surrounding market streets, where the noise and colour contrast with the church's calm interior. I keep my camera handheld through the market and steadier inside the church, since the two settings ask for different treatment. I take questions throughout rather than saving them for one point.
