I hike the trail up to Mala Osojnica most mornings before the crowds reach the viewpoint, so I know exactly which switchback gives the first full look at the island and castle together. On camera I keep climbing at a steady pace and explain how the trail was cut into the hillside for the view rather than for any easier route down to the water. I worked for years as a mountain guide further north before settling back near the lake where I grew up. I answer trail questions carefully, since the footing changes a lot between seasons even if the view stays the same.
