My family has sold fish at La Pescheria for three generations, so the market's early morning routine is something I know from the inside rather than as a visitor. On camera I move between the stalls as the catch comes in, explaining which fish are in season and how the vendors' calls work as a kind of running auction. I like keeping sessions early, since the market is at its loudest and most interesting before most of the city is even awake. I have guided here for six years and still learn something from the older vendors most weeks.
