I worked for years as a gardener in Sanssouci Park before I started guiding, and I still notice the terraces the way a gardener does, by season rather than by view. On camera I like starting low, at the vineyard steps below the palace, so you see the building rise the way Frederick the Great meant it to be seen. I keep a slower pace than most guides here, since the park rewards it, and I am happy to spend ten minutes on one fountain if that is where your questions lead. Video lets me show the planting up close in a way a printed guidebook never could.
