Serena Pieri

I studied archaeology, so Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is where I like to slow right down, explaining how its oval shape traces the exact outline of a Roman amphitheatre buried underneath the buildings. From there I usually move to San Michele in Foro, holding the camera on its tiered marble facade long enough for each level of columns to actually register. I think Lucca rewards a slower pace than most Italian cities, since so much of its history sits quietly under later buildings. My sessions run a little longer than average for that reason.
