I have volunteered at the Gentse Feesten for more years than I can easily count, so the festival's history is something I know from the inside rather than from a guidebook. My session traces the festival through the streets and squares it takes over each summer, explaining how a nineteenth-century trade fair grew into ten days that shape the whole city's calendar. I like giving real context rather than a quick list of dates, and I keep a warm, conversational pace throughout. I always leave time at the end for whatever you are curious about.
