Simon Wallin

I trained in architectural history and split my two sessions between Malmö's oldest surviving building and one of its more understated newer ones. My main session walks around St Petri Church, a Gothic brick church that has stood since the fourteenth century despite Malmö growing considerably around it. A second session looks at Malmö Konsthall's plain, glass-roofed exterior, one of Europe's largest exhibition spaces for contemporary art when it opened in the 1970s. I like the contrast between the two ages, since both buildings still do exactly the job they were built for.
