Simone Landucci

I studied art history, so Siena's cathedral is where I spend most of my time, camera close on the black and white marble stripes that represent the city's heraldic colours. I explain how the stripes were meant to continue across a much larger planned extension that was abandoned after plague reduced the city's population. I keep my shots close on the marble pattern rather than wide on the whole building, since the detail is easy to miss from a normal photograph. I answer questions on the cathedral's unfinished ambitions in some depth.
