Sofia Michailidou

I studied Byzantine art history with a focus on the monasteries of Ano Poli, and Vlatadon still surprises me with a detail I had not noticed on an earlier visit. On camera I keep to the courtyard and the outer walkways, since the working chapel inside stays quiet and undisturbed during services. I explain how the monastery's position on the hillside gave it a defensive role as well as a religious one. I run detailed, unhurried sessions and welcome long questions on Byzantine painting and architecture from anyone genuinely curious about the period.
