I grew up in Geroskipou, a village so close to Paphos that most visitors never realise they have left one town for another. On camera I walk the street of loukoumi workshops first, explaining how the sweet earned a protected status tied specifically to this village, then stop at the five-domed Church of Agia Paraskevi nearby. I point out how the domes reflect a much older Byzantine building style than most churches built later along the coast. I like showing a slower, older Cyprus a short drive from the resorts that surround it now.
