Thanos Katsaros

My family has worked silver in Ioannina for three generations, so the filigree work the city is known for is something I learned to recognise long before I ever guided anyone through the old bazaar. On camera I show pieces up close, explaining the technique behind the fine twisted wirework. I also walk the covered lanes of the old bazaar itself, pointing out which shops still work metal by hand rather than sell imported pieces. I run a steady, informative session and welcome detailed questions about the craft from anyone genuinely interested.
