Thomas Brandl

For twenty-two years I taught history and English at a Gymnasium in Pasing. I took school groups to the Dachau memorial site every spring, and I learned there that the hardest part of teaching this period is not the facts but the silence afterwards. I retired early in 2023 and now guide full time. My tours cover Munich in the years 1919 to 1945, which the city was slow to talk about, and the royal Bavaria of Ludwig II, which it talks about far too easily. I am patient with questions and I will say when I do not know something. I live in Schwabing with my wife, who is a paediatrician, and our two grown-up sons visit when they need their laundry done. I walk in the Alps most weekends. I now guide live on video from Munich, with my phone as the camera and time for your questions all the way through.
