I have crossed the Chapel Bridge most days of my life, so the painted panels set into its roof trusses still catch my eye even after decades of walking past them. On camera I explain how the bridge survived a fire in the 1990s that destroyed much of the original woodwork and many of the paintings inside it. I also stop at the octagonal tower beside it, once used as a prison and an archive long before either of us was born. I keep a steady pace and answer detailed questions about the restoration whenever they come up.
