I have swum and walked along the Isar's gravel beaches south of the centre since I was a child, long before the river became a popular summer spot. On camera I follow the water's edge, pointing out where the current is safe and where the river was deliberately reshaped decades ago to look more natural again. My second session covers the same stretch in early morning quiet, when it looks almost like countryside despite sitting inside the city. I keep my pace steady along the gravel and let the river itself do most of the talking.
