I trained as a guide specifically to work at the cathedral, since its fortress-like exterior tells a different story from the plainer parish churches around it. On camera I hold the shot on the Romanesque facade before moving to the terrace outside, which gives one of the best views over the Ribeira rooftops. I explain the building's defensive past plainly rather than dramatising it, since the stonework already makes the point. I keep a measured pace throughout and answer questions about the cathedral's various additions across the centuries in as much depth as anyone wants.
