Tor Idsøe

I trained originally as a historian and spent years researching the Battle of Hafrsfjord before I ever guided anyone through it. My main session walks Stavanger Cathedral, Norway's oldest, consecrated in the twelfth century and still in regular use. A second session drives the point home at Sverd i fjell, three huge bronze swords set into rock outside the city, marking the battle that is said to have unified Norway under one king. I like connecting a working cathedral to a monument most visitors only glance at, since together they cover almost a thousand years of the same national story.
