I climb to the castle most weeks even when I am not guiding, because the view changes with every kind of light. On camera I like to reach the ramparts just as the sun catches the port, so the whole bay opens up at once. I trained as a local history teacher before I started guiding on video, and I still think like one, always tracing how one period built on the last. I keep the pace steady rather than rushing to the top, because the climb itself is part of what makes the view worth seeing. I answer questions as we go rather than saving them for the end.
