I trained first as a historian before becoming a guide, focused on Rumeli Fortress and the whirling dervish hall in Galata, two buildings most visitors treat as a quick photo rather than something worth explaining properly. On camera I like moving slowly along the fortress walls rather than covering the whole site in one sweep, since the towers were each built by a different crew under real time pressure. I try to explain the dervish hall's layout plainly for viewers who have never seen anything like it, without assuming prior knowledge of Sufi practice.
