Yiannis Karagiannis

I grew up on Anafi, the island whose workers built the small whitewashed neighbourhood on the north slope of the Acropolis, and my grandfather's cousin lived in one of those houses for decades. Filming the steps up through Anafiotika still feels like walking through family history rather than just a neighbourhood. I also like ending my sessions on Filopappou Hill as the light drops, because the Acropolis looks different from there than from anywhere closer. I keep my calls unhurried and I am happy to backtrack if someone wants a longer look at something.
