I have run a stall in the Ktima market for fifteen years, in the upper town most visitors never bother reaching from the harbour. On camera I walk the market's aisles first, showing the bakeries and kebab stalls that serve locals rather than tourists, then continue up the high street toward the municipal gardens. I explain why Ktima and Kato Paphos feel like two different towns entirely, despite sharing a name. I describe every smell and taste in detail, since nothing tangible can reach the screen no matter how much I might want it to.
