I studied archaeology in Izmir and came back to Selçuk to work summers on Ayasuluk hill, first as a site assistant and now as a guide. What I like about the fortress walls is how many different periods sit in the same stretch of stone, and I try to show that layering clearly on camera rather than just naming dates. In the evenings I sometimes go up to Şirince to see the vineyards once the day visitors have left, and I have started bringing my phone along to share what the village looks like at that quieter hour.
