- A hall seen from a respectful distance

- The history explained carefully
About this tour
This session moves along the ceremonial avenue of Anıtkabir to the terrace surrounding the Hall of Honour. You see the stone lions lining the approach, the colonnaded hall from a respectful distance, and finally the terrace where soil from across the country's provinces is kept. Each stop explains a different part of how the site was designed to represent the whole nation.
I open with a sound check at the start of the avenue, then we move up toward the terrace while you ask questions along the way. I keep my tone measured throughout, given what the site represents. Afterwards I send a short written note on the history we covered.
This suits anyone wanting to understand the site's meaning rather than only seeing it. It also suits a traveller preparing for their own visit who wants the background explained first.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

- A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 7 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Ankara before heading out.
-
Ceremonial Avenue 21 min
The camera follows the long avenue lined with stone lions leading up to the terrace. I explain the symbolism behind the lions and the scale of the approach.
-
Hall of Honour 21 min
You see the wide colonnaded hall from outside, since filming stays respectful near the mausoleum itself. I explain the design choices behind the building's proportions.
-
Peace Park Terrace 21 min
From the surrounding terrace, the camera takes in soil brought from across Turkey's provinces. I explain why each province is represented here.
-
Your questions 14 min
Time to ask anything about Ankara: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 6 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Beypazarı güveç (clay-pot stew) and Çankaya, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Istanbul time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
