Yivli Minare and the old town mosques
Highlights
- Grooved brick shaft of the minaret
- A Seljuk brickwork technique explained
- A courtyard still used for prayer
- Different building periods, side by side
- One landmark, closely explained
About this tour
This short session focuses on Yivli Minare, the grooved Seljuk minaret that has become one of Antalya's clearest symbols. You see the fluted brickwork up close, then the small courtyard at its base where different building periods sit side by side. The session stays close to this one landmark rather than covering the wider old town.
I start with a sound check facing the minaret, then we move into the courtyard while you ask about the brickwork and its age. I point out the layers of construction visible around the walls. At the end I send a short written note on the technique we discussed.
This suits anyone interested in Seljuk architecture specifically rather than the old town in general. It also suits a shorter session for someone with limited time before another booking.

-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Tandır kebabı (slow-roasted lamb) and Konyaaltı, worth a slower look.

- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
