Grote Markt and the guild houses of Antwerp
Highlights
- Gabled guild houses, explained one by one
- The Brabo Fountain's legend
- A Renaissance town hall among Gothic neighbours
- Antwerp's main square, up close
- Central Antwerp in one short stop
About this tour
This session covers the Grote Markt and its mix of guild houses and Renaissance town hall. You see the gabled facades and the Brabo Fountain at the centre of the square, then the town hall itself, built in a style that stood apart from its Gothic neighbours. It is a short, central look at Antwerp's main square.
We start with a sound check by the fountain, since the square can be busy with trams and visitors. I move to the town hall for the second stop and take your questions about the guilds or the square's history as we go. A short list of the buildings follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone with limited time who still wants a proper explanation of Antwerp's central square. It also works well as a quick add-on before or after a longer session.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
