About this tour

This short session uses the modern Pont Édouard Daladier to frame Avignon's classic postcard view back toward the Palais des Papes. You see the exact angle that makes the shot work, then the riverbank just below where the water moves quickly past the old walls. Coralie explains how the Rhône's position shaped the city's defences long before the modern bridge existed.

The call opens with a sound check on the bridge, then moves down to the riverbank. Coralie keeps the session warm and unhurried, adjusting the pace to whatever the light is doing at the time. A short list of what was seen follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who wants Avignon's most photographed view properly explained. It also works well as a quick add-on to a longer old town session.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Avignon before heading out.

  2. Pont Édouard Daladier 15 min

The camera takes in the modern bridge's straight span across the Rhône, built specifically with this view in mind. I point out the exact angle that makes the shot back to the Palais des Papes work so well.

  3. Riverbank below the bridge 15 min

You see the Rhône's edge from just below the bridge, the water moving quickly past the old town's walls. I explain how the river's position shaped the city's defences for centuries.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Avignon: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Daube provençale and Rocher des Doms, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Paris time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
