About this tour

This session climbs to Turó de la Rovira for sunset, from the quieter paths of Guinardó park to the old anti-aircraft battery and the view over Montjuïc and the sea. The camera times the climb to reach the top as the light starts to change. The guide explains the hill's history, from wartime defence to the shanty town that stood here until 1990.

The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the climb path by path, timed to reach the top before the light fades, with room for questions throughout. A short list of the paths and the best sunset times follows by message afterwards.

This suits anyone who wants a view over Barcelona without the crowds at the more famous lookouts, whether planning a visit or simply enjoying a sunset from home. It also suits anyone interested in the hill's wartime and postwar history.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Barcelona before heading out.

  2. Guinardó park paths 21 min

The climb starts through Guinardó park, following paths most visitors never find, away from the more obvious routes up the hill.

  3. Anti-aircraft battery 21 min

Near the top, the concrete remains of an anti-aircraft battery from the Spanish Civil War still sit on the ridge, and the guide explains what this hill was used for during the war.

  4. Turó de la Rovira viewpoint 21 min

From Turó de la Rovira, the whole city opens out in one view, and the guide explains that a shanty town stood on this exact hill until it was cleared in 1990.

  5. Sunset over Montjuïc 21 min

As the light drops, the view turns toward Montjuïc and the sea beyond it, and the camera holds on the skyline as the colours change.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Barcelona: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Escalivada and Gràcia, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
