The Cascada, Gaudí's student project
Highlights
- A monumental fountain built by students
- Young Gaudí's hand in an early project
- Terraces rising above the park's lake
- Nineteenth-century park design, up close
- Gaudí's work before his own style formed
About this tour
This walk covers the Cascada fountain in Ciutadella Park, an elaborate nineteenth-century monument that a young Gaudí helped build as a student. You see the terraced fountain itself and then the park's lake with the upper terrace visible behind it. It is an early, collaborative work rather than a solo Gaudí design.
I move around the fountain at an easy pace before reaching the lake for a wider view, explaining the project's history as we go. Questions are welcome throughout, and I send a short note once we finish.
This suits anyone interested in Gaudí's early career or nineteenth-century park design generally. It also works well as a calm, green session before a busier day.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
