About this tour

This session covers Gràcia, from three of its squares, Plaça de la Vila, Plaça del Sol and Plaça de la Virreina, to the Mercat de l'Abaceria and the exterior of Casa Vicens, Gaudí's first house. The camera moves at the pace of a resident running errands rather than a sightseeing route. The guide explains Festa Major, the street festival that transforms these same squares every August.

The call opens with a short sound check, then follows the district square by square, with time for questions along the way. A short list of the squares and the market's opening hours follows by message once the call ends.

This suits anyone who wants a residential side of Barcelona rather than the main tourist route, whether planning a visit or simply curious from home. It also suits anyone interested in Gaudí's earliest work before he became known for the Sagrada Família.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Barcelona before heading out.

  2. Gràcia squares 21 min

The walk crosses three of Gràcia's squares, Plaça de la Vila, Plaça del Sol and Plaça de la Virreina, and the guide explains how each one keeps its own character despite sitting a few streets apart.

  3. Mercat de l'Abaceria 21 min

Inside the Mercat de l'Abaceria on a weekday morning, the guide points out stall holders who have sold here for years and explains what a local actually buys on an ordinary visit.

  4. Casa Vicens and a family café 21 min

Outside Casa Vicens, Gaudí's first house, the guide explains how it shows the style he would later use across the city, then stops at a family café for a horchata or coffee while describing the decorations put up for Festa Major.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Barcelona: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pa amb tomàquet and Barceloneta, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
