Orecchiette made by hand on Via Arco Basso
Highlights
- Orecchiette shaped with one knife stroke
- Pasta drying in the open street air
- A craft passed down on the same street
- Hands at work, close on camera
- One shape, one street, explained properly
About this tour
This session stays on Via Arco Basso, watching orecchiette shaped entirely by hand at trestle tables outside people's front doors. You see the single knife stroke that makes each shape and the racks where the pasta dries in the open air. It is a close look at one craft rather than a tour of the whole old town.
I hold the phone close to the tables and let the rhythm of the work carry the session, taking questions on technique and ingredients as they come up. I send a short note afterwards on where the pasta made that morning is usually sold.
This suits anyone curious about Bari's food traditions rather than only its architecture. It also works well booked alongside a fish market session for the fuller picture.

- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
