  • A river island, explained end to end

About this tour

This session shows Ada Ciganlija, the river island built up over decades into Belgrade's main summer recreation ground. You see the artificial lake at its centre and then the path circling the island, with an explanation of how the whole area came to be shaped this way. It stays on the island throughout.

I keep a relaxed pace on this one, since the island is best explained the way locals actually use it. Questions about the lake and its history are welcome throughout the call.

This suits anyone who wants to see how Belgrade spends its summer rather than only its historic centre. It also works well booked in the warmer months when the island is busiest.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Belgrade before heading out.

  2. Ada Ciganlija Lake 21 min

The camera follows the edge of the artificial lake built on this river island, and I explain how a marshy stretch of land became the city's main summer recreation ground.

  3. Riverside Path 21 min

You see the path circling the island, and I point out how locals use different stretches of it depending on the time of day.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Belgrade: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pljeskavica and Zemun, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Belgrade time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
