About this tour
This session rides the Fløibanen funicular up Mount Fløyen and films the panorama from the top. You see the city fall away during the ride and then the full view of Bergen's harbour and its seven surrounding mountains. Bjørn explains how the funicular has carried people up this same slope for more than a century.
He keeps the ride itself fairly quiet, since the changing view does most of the work, then slows right down at the summit platform. Questions about the mountains visible from the top come up naturally, and he answers them one peak at a time.
This suits anyone wanting Bergen's best view without leaving much time for it. It pairs well with Bjørn's calmer second session around the lake in the city centre.

The funicular ride 21 min
The camera rides the Fløibanen funicular up the mountainside, and I point out the city spreading out below as the angle changes on the way up.
-
The summit view 21 min
From the viewing platform at the top you see Bergen's harbour and all seven surrounding mountains at once, and I explain how the funicular has run this same route since 1918.
-
Your questions 9 min
Time to ask anything about Bergen: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Fish soup (fiskesuppe) and Nordnes, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Oslo time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
