About this tour
This session covers Michael's Gate, the only surviving gate of Bratislava's medieval fortifications, and the street that traces where the rest of the walls once stood. You see the gate's tower rising above the street and then the line the walls followed, visible now only in the shape of the buildings along it. It is a short session built around what has survived and what has not.
I walk the old fortification line at an easy pace, pointing out where the walls would have stood even though nothing remains above ground. Questions come in throughout, and I answer them as we walk. A short note on the wider medieval town plan follows once we finish.
This suits anyone with an interest in how a medieval town's shape survives even after its walls are gone. It also works well paired with the Main Square session.
