Kemptown's colourful Regency terraces
Highlights
- Regency terraces in bright colour
- Ironwork balconies worth a closer look
- A neighbourhood known for its community
- A quieter square off the main street
- Architecture and identity together
About this tour
This call walks a district of Regency terraces painted in bright colours, known as much for its community as for its architecture. You see a full row of painted facades first, then a quieter residential square just off the main street. I explain how the district earned its present-day character.
We move at an easy pace along the terraces, pausing at balconies and doorways for questions, then step into the quieter square. A short note on the district's history follows by message.
This suits anyone interested in architecture and in how a neighbourhood builds an identity over time. It also works well as a calmer session between busier seafront calls.

The camera moves along a row of Regency townhouses painted in bright, varied colours, and I explain how the district became known both for its architecture and its community.

A quiet side square 15 min
You see a smaller residential square just off the main street, and I point out details in the ironwork balconies that most people miss walking past.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
