Banksy's Bristol: street art in the open
Highlights
- An early mural still on its wall
- Street art layered old over new
- Bristol's shift on graffiti explained
- Where a famous piece first appeared
- The city that shaped an anonymous artist
About this tour
This call follows several works by the anonymous Bristol-born street artist known as Banksy, seen exactly where they were painted. You see one of the earliest surviving large murals and newer street art layered around it in Stokes Croft. I explain how the city's attitude to graffiti shifted around this work.
We start with a sound check at the first mural, then move between the three stops, pausing at each wall for a proper look. Questions come up throughout, and I send a short map of the pieces afterwards.
It suits art fans and anyone curious about street art's move into the mainstream. It also works well combined with a gallery session on the harbourside.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
