About this tour

This longer call follows the Harbourside as the evening light turns golden, from the promenade to a final view back across the water. You see former warehouses turned galleries, a working harbour ferry and the docks lit low and warm at the end. I keep pace with the changing light rather than rushing between stops.

We start with a sound check on the promenade, then move along the harbourside in stages, timing the final stop for the best light. Questions come up throughout, and I send photographs afterwards from the session.

It suits anyone who wants an unhurried evening session with strong light. It also works well as a longer, calmer alternative to the daytime market and street art sessions.

Included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 10 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Bristol before heading out.

  2. Harbourside promenade 21 min

As the light softens, you walk the reclaimed dockside promenade, and I point out which buildings were once warehouses before the harbour stopped working as a port.

  3. Arnolfini exterior 21 min

Outside the contemporary art gallery housed in a former tea warehouse, you see the building's plain industrial front, unchanged since its working days.

  4. Harbour ferry crossing 21 min

You watch one of the small harbour ferries cross the water, a working transport link that has run on this stretch for decades.

  5. Final quayside view 21 min

From the far quay, with the light now low, you look back across the water at the whole harbourside lit gold, warehouses, cranes and boats together in one view.

  6. Your questions 18 min

Time to ask anything about Bristol: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  7. A short list to keep 8 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Sunday roast and Clifton, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in London time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

Can I ask the guide questions during the session, or is it a fixed script?

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
