A citadel's library and a striped facade
Highlights
- A library inside an old fortress
- How the collection came together
- A striped facade, technically explained
- Detail most visitors photograph and skip
- Craft inside Budva's old town
About this tour
This session pairs two details most visitors walk past inside the old town. You see a small library kept inside the citadel's much older walls, then the striped stone facade of the main square's church. It moves between one interior and one exterior detail.
I explain how the library ended up inside a military building first, then spend longer on the facade's construction, since the striped pattern has a clear technical answer once someone asks. Questions about either are welcome.
This suits anyone who prefers detail and craft over the wider view of the old town. It also suits anyone who has already walked past both without knowing either story.

Itinerary
-
Welcome and sound check 5 min
The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Budva before heading out.
-
Citadela Library 15 min
You see a small library kept inside the old citadel, and I explain how its collection came together despite the building's much older military purpose.
-
Holy Trinity Church Facade 15 min
The camera settles on the church's striped stone facade in the main square, and I point out the pattern's construction detail that most visitors photograph without asking how it was actually built.
-
Your questions 7 min
Time to ask anything about Budva: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.
-
A short list to keep 3 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Njeguški pršut and Stari Grad, worth a slower look.
Good to know
- A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
- Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
- Times are shown in Podgorica time, so check the time where you are before you book.
- The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
- Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
- Sessions run in small groups, up to 9 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
