About this tour

This longer session walks a full loop through Budva's old town, from the fortress at its tip to the walls around it. You see the Citadela's terrace and small library, the narrow lanes below, and a stretch of the ramparts looking down over the rooftops. It follows the old town's edge as closely as the streets allow.

I keep a steady pace throughout since there is a lot of ground to cover, slowing down at the citadel and again on the walls where the view is worth lingering over. Questions about the old town's layout are welcome at any point.

This suits anyone who wants the whole old town explained in one session rather than in pieces. It also suits anyone planning to explore further on their own afterwards.

Included

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Budva before heading out.

  2. Citadela Terrace 21 min

You see the terrace of a fortress at the tip of the old town's peninsula, rebuilt several times since the Venetian period, and I point out the small library kept inside it today.

  3. Old Town Lanes 21 min

The camera moves through lanes barely wide enough for two people, and I explain how the old town's tight layout was originally meant to slow down anyone attacking it.

  4. City Walls Stretch 21 min

You see a stretch of stone ramparts letting you walk almost the full circuit of the old town above the rooftops, and I point out how the walls change in height depending on which side once needed the most defending.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Budva: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Riblja čorba (fish soup) and Stari Grad, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Podgorica time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 8 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
