St Fagans: Wales in the open air, from the gate
Highlights
- Buildings moved from across Wales
- A manor house a museum was built around
- Structures numbered and rebuilt exactly
- One estate, dozens of relocated villages
- Welsh history assembled piece by piece
About this tour
This call looks at St Fagans from outside its buildings, an open-air museum where historic structures from across Wales have been moved and rebuilt on one estate. You see the grounds, the original manor house and the paths connecting dozens of relocated buildings. I explain how such a large-scale rebuilding project actually works.
We start with a sound check at the main gate, then walk the grounds in stages, pausing at the manor house and along the paths. Questions come up throughout, and I send a short note on a few of the relocated buildings afterwards.
It suits anyone interested in Welsh history or unusual museums. It also works well as a longer, more rural session away from the city centre.
Included
- Live video walk with a local guide
- Questions to your guide all the way
- A short list of places to visit later
Not included
- Internet connection
- Travel to the city

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
