Cave Hill and the view over Belfast
Highlights
- Basalt cliffs appearing on the climb
- The whole city seen from above
- A literary legend, fact-checked
- A proper walk with a real reward
- Belfast's skyline from its own hill
About this tour
This session climbs Cave Hill from its lower wooded path up toward the view at the top, looking at both the hill itself and the city spread out below it. You see basalt cliffs appearing as the path climbs and, from near the summit, the whole of Belfast and the lough beyond. Ryan explains the hill's supposed literary connection and separates that from what's actually documented.
After a short sound check at the base, the climb happens in stages, with pauses at the cliffs and near the summit for questions. Ryan answers as you go and sends a short note afterwards on the best days for a clear view.
It suits anyone who wants Belfast's best overview alongside a proper walk. It also appeals to those interested in the hill's folklore and what's genuinely known about it.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
