About this tour
This session covers the Mercato Coperto, Como's nineteenth-century covered market near the old walls. You see the market hall's exterior and hear how it moved the city's food trade indoors, then move inside past stalls of local cheese, cured meat and lake fish, described in detail. It is a street-level look at what Como actually eats, beyond the lakeside restaurants.
We start with a sound check outside the hall, since the street nearby can be busy with deliveries in the morning. I move inside for the second stop and take your questions about any of the stalls as we go. A short list of dishes worth trying follows by message afterwards.
It suits anyone curious about Como's food beyond its lakeside restaurants. It also works well as a mid-morning session before lunch elsewhere.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
