  • A 19th-century iron hall
  • Tomatoes picked for thickness
  • Bread as the hidden half
  • Stalls at their busiest hour
  • A market behind the dish

About this tour

This session moves through the iron-framed hall of Mercado Victoria, showing the produce and prepared food stalls that stand behind dishes like salmorejo before they ever reach a plate. You see the bread and tomatoes explained side by side. The route stays inside the market itself, at an hour when stalls are busiest.

We begin near the entrance with a quick check of the light, then walk stall to stall with pauses to explain what makes each ingredient right for the dish. Questions come in freely as we move, and afterward I send a short list of what to look for if you cook it yourself.

This suits food-curious travellers who want the market before the meal, and anyone who prefers mornings to evening sessions. It also pairs well with a later, sit-down tapas call from another guide.

Included

  • Live video session with a local guide
  • A close look at the dishes and where locals buy them
  • A short list of places and dishes to try later

Not included

  • Food and drinks shown on camera
  • Travel to the city

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Cordoba before heading out.

  2. The iron market hall 21 min

You see the 19th-century glass and iron pavilion of Mercado Victoria from inside, stalls lined under natural light, and I explain how it once served a very different, more local crowd.

  3. A tomato and bread stall 21 min

The camera settles on a stall selling the exact tomatoes and bread used for salmorejo, and I explain why the ratio of bread to tomato is what makes it so thick.

  4. Your questions 9 min

Time to ask anything about Cordoba: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 4 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Flamenquín and Ribera, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Madrid time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
