- Brass owl markers in the pavement
- A signed route through the old town
- A local's lifelong following of the trail
About this tour
This walk follows Dijon's owl trail, a signed route marked by small brass owls set into the pavement, starting at the stone carving that gives the trail its name. You see the worn stone owl on Notre-Dame's wall before spotting a few of the brass markers along the old town streets. Mathieu, who has followed this trail since childhood, explains the tradition behind it.
The call opens with a sound check at the church wall, then follows the trail at a relaxed pace. Mathieu checks in often to make sure the pace suits you, and answers questions about the owl's history as they come up. A short list of the markers found follows by message afterwards.
This suits anyone who enjoys a small, self-contained city tradition. It also works well as a playful introduction to Dijon's old town.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
