About this tour

This session walks through the Hofgarten, Germany's oldest public park, from its open lawns to the tree-lined paths connecting nearby museums and squares. You see a design that has changed little since the late 1700s and hear how locals actually use the park day to day. It moves at a calm, unhurried pace.

We start on the open lawns before following a path toward the museum district, and I keep commentary light so the park's quiet can carry part of the session. Questions about the park's history come naturally. A short map of the paths follows by message.

It suits anyone who wants a calmer session after a denser museum walk. It also works well as a green route between the K20 and the Altstadt.

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 5 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Dusseldorf before heading out.

  2. Open lawns 15 min

The camera moves across open lawns laid out in the late 18th century, and I explain how the park's design has stayed largely the same since it opened to the public.

  3. Park pathways 15 min

Along a tree-lined path, you see how the park connects several museums and squares, and I point out which routes locals use for a quick walk between meetings.

  4. Your questions 7 min

Time to ask anything about Dusseldorf: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  5. A short list to keep 3 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Currywurst and Medienhafen, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Berlin time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 10 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
