San Miniato at sunset with Gregorian vespers
Highlights
- The climb through Florence's Rose Garden
- Piazzale Michelangelo, arrived at before the crowds
- San Miniato al Monte, Florence's Romanesque church
- Gregorian chant sung by the Olivetan monks
- The walk down along the old city walls
About this tour
This session climbs to San Miniato al Monte for sunset and the monks' evening chant. The camera moves through the Rose Garden, up to Piazzale Michelangelo ahead of the coach groups, and into the Romanesque church itself as Gregorian chant fills the space. The walk back follows the line of the old city walls down into Florence.
After a sound check, the walk climbs in real time so the chant lands close to its actual hour, with questions taken on the way up rather than during the singing itself. A short note on the vespers schedule for anyone planning their own visit follows the call.
This suits anyone who wants Florence's best-known view without the crowd that usually comes with it, and anyone drawn to Gregorian chant heard in the place it was written for. It also suits someone simply looking for a quiet end to the day from somewhere else.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
