Bakırcılar, the coppersmiths' bazaar, on camera
Highlights
- Copper shaped by repeated hammer strikes
- Apprentices learning over many years
- Trays, pots and lanterns lined up
- Finishes that hint at a piece's age
- A trade barely changed in generations
About this tour
This walk moves through Bakırcılar, the old coppersmiths' bazaar, from workshops still shaping metal by hand to a row of finished pieces outside. You see the hammering process up close, then trays, pots and lanterns lined up ready for sale. The session shows a trade that has barely changed in generations.
I begin with a sound check near a workshop, then we move along the row while you ask questions about the craft. I point out details that suggest how old or how recently made a piece is. Afterwards I send a short note on what we saw.
This suits anyone who enjoys markets built around a single traditional craft. It also suits someone considering a piece of copperware to take home.

A short list to keep 4 min
Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Küşleme (chopped lamb kebab) and Şahinbey, worth a slower look.

How reviews work
Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
